I am a surrealist from Edinburgh Scotland. Since 2017, I have been working on a collage project ‘The Cabinet of Major Weir’. This consists of a series of fifty episode ‘collage novels’, modelled on the work of Max Ernst, and published online in weekly instalments. The individual collages are created with images culled from photo books found in local charity shops. Following surrealist principles, I work on my collages without preconceived planning and with a minimum of conscious thought, usually starting with a figure or a setting, and allowing one image to suggest another intuitively. My process is entirely analogue, scalpel and glue, with nothing copied or resized. My site is linked below, along with an in-depth interview with The Odd magazine.
