Warped Visions: The Art of Dylan Michilsen
Dylan Michilsen is a collage artist working across analog and digital media. His compositions exist on the border between dreams and nightmares, drawing on the visual language of cosmic horror and the Weird. Using a variety of found imagery and vintage ephemera, he constructs warped visions that feel at once familiar and alien, like fragments of half-remembered films seen long ago.
Based in Estonia, Dylan draws inspiration from surrealism and vintage horror, as well as the unpredictability of dream logic and nightmare spaces. For him, collage is a way of storytelling, a process in which disparate elements interact to reveal hidden narratives that explore the malleable world of the subconscious.
Dylan is also the founder of Semioculus, an independent art zine and online community dedicated to the dark and surreal. Through it, he curates and shares work by fellow artists who explore the unsettling and dreamlike lurking just beneath the surface of the unconscious.
